Do athletes really get better, faster, stronger? In my opinion athletes do not get better, stronger, or faster because of technology.  Back in the day they didn’t have what all athletes have nowadays. We all have better clothes and shoes so that we are able to run smoother and faster. Also, we have better areas for the sport, like better fields, courts, and better tracks. All of these things contribute to athletes performing at a higher level than before. So I don’t think athletes are really getting better, stronger, or faster.

     Back in the day athletes would perform in clothes and shoes that weren’t well fitted for the sport. For example sometimes they wore baggy shorts to swim or run, or maybe even wore chuck taylors on a basketball court, or flat cleats on a soccer field. All of these little things slowed down athletes and didn’t allow them to perform how they would in todays sports if they had all the newer, better things. This is one of the reasons why I think athletes now aren’t really getting better than the ones before us.  Second of all, we now have better areas for athletes to perform at a higher level than before. For example, we have better tracks that allow runners to get a good grip and have better agility while running. Also we have better fields that allow them to run up and down without getting as tired because of the nice, flat, smooth surface that is provided. This is a big help to all the athletes of this generation because it benefits them in so many ways and they don’t notice it. So really when you think about it, you never beat someones record, you just have technology by your side. athletes do not get better, faster, or stronger. It’s all thanks to technology helping us out and letting us perform better. I would’ve never thought that technology was what caused athletes to better themselves. I always thought if you trained certain ways you’d become a better athlete but no matter what you say or do, it’s still all technology. This is why I think athletes do not get better, faster, stronger and they should all know that

   Everyone occasionally feels blue or sad. But these feelings are usually short-lived and pass within a couple of days. When you have depression, it interferes with daily life and causes pain for both you and those who care about you. Depression is a common but serious illness.Many people with a depressive illness never seek treatment. But the majority, even those with the most severe depression, can get better with treatment. Medications, psychotherapies, and other methods can effectively treat people with depression.There are several forms of depressive disorders. some forms include major depression, which has symptoms that interfere with your ability to work, sleep, study, eat, and enjoy life. One of these episodes can occur only once in a persons lifetime. Another form of depression is persistent depressive disorder. Moods from this can last two whole years. They may have episodes, but symptoms last two years. depression can cause many people to chance dramatically and may cause them to begin to have bad thoughts. Depression is something that not everyone takes seriously. We live in a world where if you break your arm, people immediately run over to sign your cast, but if you tell them you're depressed, they run away.

economy as a social institution

   Economy is the institution that provides for the production and distribution of goods and services. People in all different societies need this. Most people can provide these things for themselves or maybe some people cant provide it for themselves so they rely on others to provide for them. When there are people who want others to provide for them, there must be something that they have to be able to exchange with that person or persons. For example, Money.Money can be given to someone in exchange for what they are providing for you. Another good exchange you could make are other goods or services in exchange for someone else's good and services. Economy affects the lives of everyone around the world. for example, capitalism. With capitalism, resources and the means of production are privately owned. People are encouraged to provide for themselves and seek profit for themselves. Some people can not seek profit for themselves and so they become affected negatively. But if someone can seek profit for themselves then they will benefit the most.

Symbolic interaction

   Symbolic Interaction is a theoretical approach to understanding the relationship between humans and society. The basic notion of symbolic interaction is that human action and interaction are understandable only through the exchange of meaningful communication or symbols. In this approach, humans are portrayed as acting as opposed to being acted upon. Some of the main principles of symbolic interaction are human beings act toward things on the basis of the meanings that things have for them. Some of these meanings arise from ongoing processes of social interaction and interpretation. Social action results from a “joint action” or the fitting together of individual lines of action. According to symbolic interaction, humans are distinct from lower animals because lower animals simply respond to their environment whereas humans have the ability to interrupt that process. People interpret one another’s behavior and it is these interpretations that form the social bond. People show how they feel and what they are thinking through symbols. For example, if someone doesn't score a high grade in class, they'll get a big fat F on their paper. Another example would be how people around the world greet each other. some people wave, other kiss, others hug, and some bow. Symbolic interaction allows people to show their feelings to others through symbols, and that helps them understand better too.

Religion as social institution

   Religion is the set of beliefs and practices regarding sacred things that help society understand the meaning and purpose of life. Religion as a social institution answers questions and explains the the seemingly inexplicable. Religion provides explanations for why things happen and helps understand them too. Religion helps unite many people around a city, state, and a country. When people unite due to religion, it helps teach many people about the religion of others. Many people become influenced by religion and so they want to teach it to others and make them understand other religions. Whenever families attend religious services or if they put up some decorations in honor of holidays, they are teaching the children and others about their religion and how to observe it. By engaging in these activities, children and adults are united with others of the same or different religion around the world. In this way, families teach their own culture as well as the culture of the society at large. 

    We tend to think of religion in individual terms because religious beliefs and values are highly personal for many people. However, religion is also a social institution, as it involves patterns of beliefs and behavior that help a society meet its basic needs. Religion determines the way most people act towards certain things in life. For example, some people accept gay marriage because of the religion, but others in a different religion would not accept that. Everyone has their own set of beliefs and practices.

Functionalism

  I believe that functionalism helps explain and understand society.it is the central idea that society is a whole unit, made up of related parts that work together. Functionalism is rooted in the origins of sociology. Just as a person or animal has organs that function together, so does society. And like an organism, if society is to function smoothly, its parts must work together in harmony. Functionalists say that to understand society, they need to look at both structure and function. Structure being how the parts of a society fit together to make the whole, and function being what each part does, and how it contributes to society. Institutions come about and persist because they play a function in society, promoting stability and integration. Functionalism has been criticized for its failure to account for social change, some consider it conservatively biased. Functionalism has also been criticized for attributing human-like needs to society. Emile Durkheim viewed society as being composed of many parts, each with its own function. Emile Durkheim’s work is considered the foundation of functionalist theory in sociology. functionalism is a key component to society and it helps society come together and work as a whole.

  I want to talk about functionalism In a soccer team. Functionalism is the way that a society works and functions together. In society everyone has their place and their way of doing things so that other things work efficiently and without any problems. So, in soccer there are many people involved in the sport and each person has their way of making the team function correctly and with zero problems. First, we have the soccer players. The soccer players are the people that play on the field and give it their all to win games. They play for their team to help it grow and become champions. Second, is the coach, assistant coaches, trainers, doctors, all that a team needs to function on and off the field. These people make sure that the team is doing what they are supposed to be doing, but also they make sure that the players are healthy and are good to go and play. Third, the president and other bodies that are in charge and own the team. These very important people fund the team, they make sure that the players and coaches get their paycheck. With all these
important people involved in the program, it works efficiently and correctly.
